On the fifteenth day of January in the year of our Lord 2012, the following shipment from the venerable Lynn Abrams arrived:
And it changed our shaving life. Granted, the ever elusive extra long bridle leather strop is still our favourite. But each of these has been a pleasure to use, and the results derived from them have been stellar. And yes, the equally elusive Scrupleworks linen has been delivering a more aesthetically pleasing experience than the effective-but-bloody-noisy recyled-seatbelt webbing.
But, well, we all have to be thankful for what we have. And during the past two years of COVID-19 boredom, these strops have been seeing a lot of action and just keep on giving.
And, as they say, they don't make things like these any more, and that is a shame.
If you can ever get a hold of one of these strops, and if that strop is in decent condition, buy it. Some people tested the strop in the above pictures, and they would agree.
Back to honing an 8/8 Dubl Duck. Boring, but needs must and all that. And then... off to a strop.
Hope you don't mind a bit of nostalgia. But Google Photos reminded me that it has been ten years since I received these strops, and I thought a bit of praise was in order. Because they still are as efficient as they are beautiful.
