What is it about Ivory?

I resist many blades that come along, but show me a vintage blade in ivory, I'm hooked. The first thing is to look for cracks, then the pattern, and then the blade. That seems backwards, but there it is. I have a new (old) Eskilstuna blade enroute with what looks to be pristine ivory scales. I'll make the blade ready. How to get over the ivory? I don't know. This will be my eighth blade in a seven day ivory set!

Ivory scales certainly has an allure. I have only one, a George Butler " Shakespeare" in pristine condition considering it's age, both blade and scales.

Nice. I had two, wished I had them back! Those are great blades.
