What's your goto type of knot hair ?

I have a lot of brushes, read too many. I like a bit of backbone, and I like a bit of scritch. Hence, I've always favored Two Band Badgers. I loved the old Simpsons Two Band Super. I also thought highly of Lee Sabini's Blonde Badger, but, nothing seems to be what it once was, does it? Of late, I hold the Manchurians in rather high esteem. I like Simpsons Manchurian, and especially Bob Quinn's Manchurian White knots.
I'm in the process of trying to get on with synthetics. Have a Simpson's Trafalgar, Chubby 2, and waiting for a handle to try an AP Shave G5C. I have not seen anything yet that would cause me to replace badger hair... but, I'm still experimenting. While I'd like to do my part to help the badger's plight, the synthetics and I have just not clicked yet. Some successes, some failures..

So, I'm still a Two Band Badger fan. Here's my latest... An 24mm Elite Manchurian White knot, set at nearly 51mm, in a Vladimir Ferdman handle. One of my favorite classic Persian Jar shapes..

BTW, I had two SHD Ooumo knots. I suppose the feeling of many people is that "if a little bit is good, more is better, and too much is just right!" Well, we can get too much of a good thing concerning knot density, IMHO. That SHD knot is just dense enough to be nearly unusable, for me at least...

Anyway, The Elite/Ferdman brush...

BTW,

I also find myself gravitating back to 22, 23 and 24 mm knots. Not as easy to find these days. But, there a Duke 3 Manchurian on the Simpsons site calling my name!

One Batch, Two Batch, Penny, And Dime.
Badger Plight I am not too concerned about. My understanding is that these animals are being Bred and harvested for food consumption.

I look at it; At least we are using the rest of the animal and it's not going to waste.

I currently have a Boar, Standard Badger and Premium Badger Brushes (3 Brushes). I like the stiffness of the Boar, but feel it is too stiff. The standard Badger has been my go to of the 3, good balance of stiff yet soft. The Premium seems to be lacking back bone to me.

I just got my first Synthetic Brush, so jury is still out on it. Only used once so far. But it is looking promising.

I am a 24mm Fan, anything over that, I feel I loose "Action" around the face.
