    Cool A New Experiment

    Microscope pics request:

Gents I know we have a well represented group here of us that have USB Microscopes
I was wondering if we could get some pics of Feather blades
Before use, during use, and when you are ready to change out the blades
    Any pics would be appreciated

I have a Working Theory and the more data points I get the better it becomes

Use the same settings as you use for the pretty bevel pics that we all do after honing with our favorite finishers

If we can get enough participation, we maybe can add in some working SR pics too after we get a library of Feather pics

Thanks in Advance to all that help out

Those photo's will be interesting Glen I love those Feather Pro blades extremely sharp and very smooth.

Any chance of sharing the theory before publication and peer review?

Please don't say you think they are being made in China for feather.

Ron, as you most certainly know the correct word would be a hypothesis

It must be something to do with the dulling of the blade with use being visually observable.

I guess the important part is that something is different today than in that article from the 1930s, I too would like to know what exactly is hypothesized to be different before seeing if lots of additional data will confirm or refute it.

Yup, I know the word is hypothesis, but since Glen chose the word theory I went along with it.

I have not used a DE razor in years but I think I may have some feather blades in one of the sample packs I loan out to other people. If I can find them, I will photograph them before, during, and after their useable life.

Glen would it help if I did a video scan of the entire length of the edge, or are representative photos sufficient?

I was really after the SE style blades Ron, but perhaps the DE's would be a good control

The SE styles would be used more like a SR with similar strokes and angles, that was what I was really after..

Thanks for any pics or vids you can post

Well since "Theory & Hypothesis" are already taken; I can't wait to give my best hunch on the situation.

I have a bunch of different feather blades (I think three kinds one with the guard and two without), but I am not posting anything until I know the hypothesis

It'll be very interesting to learn something out of this, but that usually takes a lot more than looking at pictures.
