Thread: What stone is this?

Call me stupid, but:
Why should one need to avoid that leather becoming wet?
Would it loose all stropping qualities, after it dried?
Would it cup? Deform?

I'm certainly not criticizing what is written here.
Just genuinely wondering.

I'm going off leather behavior in general. I have a pair of leather boots that weren't waterproofed that I got wet years ago. After they dried they were not the same. When I think of strop leather I think creamy smooth or velvety. I think water would change this.

Also the leather looks very old and in kind of bad shape anyways wetting it would probably ruin it, it could also cause it to become unglued from the stone.

could take a bit of lapping too that thing looks clogged up pretty bad.
