Thread: HORID Hone Job

OKay so i got this razor for FREE along with another knowing that the edge was all jacked up!!! and im wondering if there is any saving it or if i got a good set of back up scales and in-lays! i know that no matter what a good bit of metal will be lost if a repair is possible but when the seller said he'd throw it in for free i couldn't say no! thanks for any help and mods if this post would be better off in a different thread please let me know!!

Moved this to the Advanced honing section because that is going to take a bit of work but yes it can be made to shave again

Thanks for putting me in the right place mods!!!

1. The edge needs to be evened up
2. The heel will need to be brought into line again
3. The edge needs to be honed to shave ready

Some things that stand out,
Note that there is no noticeable hone wear, and the Gold is in pretty good shape from what I can see, which leads me to believe that the razor was dropped and damaged early in it's life... Somebody attempted an edge restoration, and learned that it isn't so easy
The edge is well into the belly of the blade which is going to make for a much stiffer edge when you are done.

It can be saved and made shave ready, but if you have no experience it might be a good idea to send it to someone that has.
