I've been eyeing this Italian product line on Smallflower.com for the better part of two years now. I love Vetiver, and I'm a big fan of Bay Rum, but I've been hesitant to pull the trigger on a $30 AS sight unseen.

I made my annual visit to Good Scents, a wonderful store in Charleston, SC just after Christmas - this store had been discussed on the forums here before. I checked out the AS and the EDT - she also carries the cream.

The scent of this product is pretty strong - which I like in Vetiver. There's nothing worse than wimpy Vetiver. The EDT seemed like overkill, so I went with the AS.

It’s great. When I first apply the AS, there is a hint of something "old-timey". I can't put my finger on it, but I'm going to assume that this is the "Rum" element. The scent then dries to a fairly sharp Vetiver - somewhere in the middle between "earthy" and "floral".

What really surprised me was the way this alcohol spray (I don't understand AS sprays, but you can use this one like a cologne too) conditioned my skin well. It doesn't dry you out, but leaves your face soft and supple. It’s in the same league as DR Harris Sandalwood AS in this respect.

At $30 ($48 for the EDT) I wouldn't buy this without checking it out in person. However, if you're willing to take a chance, and are a big fan of Vetiver, go for it!
