    Talking Floris Vetiver EDT

What can I say? Floris (along with Penhaligons) is at the top of my list of scent makers. Their Classic Collection tends to emphasize more "single note" type scents. They are simpler, but still very refined.

Vetiver is one of those love it or hate it scents. Floris has done a superb job with their version.

It goes on earthy, warm and robust. The scent mellows a little as it dries down and the more floral side of the vetiver steps up a tad - without being sweet. Floris describes the mix as “A rich woody fragrance with the distinctive and tenacious notes of vetiver blended with cedarwood, patchouli and sandalwood.” My nose isn’t sophisticated enough to distinguish any of these individual notes, but suffice to say, they’ve done a masterful job mixing this scent. If you like Vetiver, you must give this one a try.

Is it true that this scent is being discontinued? I noticed on London's Bath that they list this as a "Fond farewell". If so, that's a shame as this is a great scent.

I hope not. It seems like all the classic scents are going away and being replaced by the generic dept. store scents.
