To the OP, don't you think the word "rancid" would be more aptly used to describe a septic tank or a rotting corpse, or maybe a bad 90's punk band?[/QUOTE]
"Cloyed rancidification" is perhaps more apt...

Who can argue with old school Barber shop. Great Stuff
I have been using Clubman Pinaud off and on since I was five years old. I remember the bottle on the back of the sink in my grandpa's bathroom. I asked,"what's that grandpa" and he said, "let me show you". Many of us who like this scent, may like it for sentimental reasons. I remember walking to the barber shop on the way home from school to have a haircut and recognizing this scent in the Barbershop. Those who have grown up around Salons and more sophisticated scents may not have the same appreciation for Clubman Pinaud. It does last all day if you use very much. I apply it after washing my hands and before drying to dilute it slightly and find this works for me. Great review! Besides, my wife's father is a Barber for 55 years and still barbering. She grew up in the barbershop giving shoe shines. She obviously has a fondness for this classic scent and therefore likes it on me. Maq
Not a big fan really.... Kind of a baby powder/ chemical scent. Quite strong. I can see it as a classic scent but with so many other great scents for around the same price I wouldn't recommend it. I don't think I would ever have bought it had I smelled it first. I don't know, maybe I will come around some day....
Scent is a love it or hate, I really do enjoy it, and I'm a young guy that likes old school scent, I even got a buddy of mine into DE shaving, and he likes it as well, the scent can grow on you with a bit of time.
Classic scent in powdery, yet masculine, unobtrusive lemon, lime, and orange.
Exceptional Old School Barbershop Splash. I love this fragrance...what can i say...brings me back to working at my Grandfather's small town barbershop in the sixties!
I tried this on another boardmembers recommendation - and also after seeing it 10,000 in the stores as I walked past it. I figured at that price point it was junk.
Well now I've tried it - and really like it. It does have that old barbershop vibe and the smell sticks around - which is great since too many scents disappear after 10 mins. The smell brings me back to the old barbershop on Main Street (on the huge hill in the center of town) that always had 4 barbers in white coats working away when I was a kid and my father took me to get my hair cut.
The bottle feels cheap - but so is the price - I can live with that. The smell is great and it sticks around. For scent I would give it a 10.
Not much sting here - I find the Pinaud Bay Rum has much more sting in it than the Clubman does. Leaves my skin and nose happy.
