    Default O M Gawd !

I saw this duck come up and dropped the first bid on it for the brass and sent the seller a question. IS this Blade Cracked ? ANSWER YEP ! went to check on it and yikes.....somebodies are bidding without reading and/or asking. I was a little shocked to see it at $70 and bet it goes way over that in the last few.

I was looking at that one and considered it, but I didn't realize there was a crack. Thank God for my RAD hiatus I bought 12 in my first 6 months, so now I'm done except if it's a great deal.

    last 10 minutes....

I was watching this auction too. That's very interesting that the blade was cracked. I swear, from the auction photos, there are no visible signs of any cracks. Did the seller, by any chance tell you were the crack was or send you a new photo?

In my opinion, a cracked blade is an unfortunate risk of Ebay auctions. I got burned once buying a Filarmonica 13 Especial where the blade arrived with a 1-2 mm crack in the middle of the shaving edge. This crack was not at all depicted in any of the auction photos. I was able to breadknife out the crack and hone the blade out to shave ready, but it always sucks having to shorten a Filarmonica. Luckily, I did not spend that much of the Fili, so I just kept it in the end.

The extent of the conversation was as I wrote it. I needed to know no more and I think he knew it. It was advertised "damaged blade" and seeing nothing I sent a note. Sold for 71 and hope somebody is happy with it.

Chev, I thing 20 from Sweden is about right. I know the first pound going that way is 20 and change. I paid 16 from Canada.

Reminds me of a 1950's stella I bought on ebay. The pic looked great and was described as "having a great sound" but the nut was broken and it was actually unplayable when I got it. About $100 later (and that was a major discount from my luthier), new nut, saddle, and re-glued bracings, it's actually a pretty decent guitar.

it's a really sad commentary these days that people are not buying razors based on quality but on pure hype.
Every day without fail one should consider himself as dead-Tsunetomo
