Default Package arrived but razor stolen

    Hey all,

I had a (thankfully not very high value) package come in today. It was sent Prioritaire from Sweden to the US, was a paper type envelope, and has very obviously been ripped open hastily, with the contents (a razor) either stolen or discarded. It was then in a plastic sleeve with some BS from USPS about how much they care and hope this doesn't inconvenience me. As far as I can tell the option of opening a claim is fairly limited, does anyone know if I have any decent options here? Not so much that I have any hope of getting the razor now, just that I'm mad about the theft.

I have had the same thing happen, but with a brush in an envelop that was carefully sliced open. If you have insurance file a claim, but the claim probably needs to be initiated by the sender. Good luck. FYI, my item was fully insured and the seller refunded my payment and then filed the claim on his end. He was eventually refunded by the postal insurance. Good luck!

I would think that you are left with a claim. I do not see any hope if the package was in fact looted. If the package was torn open in machinery and then contents actually lost you may get the razor back, but not without a claim.

Put in a claim anyway. Some carriers have opening letter type shipments down to a science. Enough claimants on a given date and given route will get the perp.
As far as getting your razor, slim. Sorry!
It has happened to many of us. Well packed and insured reduces the problem. Envelopes just troll for thieves.
Good packaging is a skill and much cheaper than a loss.

I had this happen to a brand new Castello tobacco pipe sent via UPS. First time in my experience. It was from a reputable pipe shop in Phoenix and I got an immediate refund. Paypal wasn't even involved, I had bought it direct. I texted them photos as it was quite obvious the package was compromised before I opened it. The incompetent boob who packed it should be fired, though I wouldn't be surprised if he was the thief, and sent an empty box.

Sorry about your razor, hope you get a refund.

A Postal Inspected said that this usually happens when things are on the conveyer belt heading towards scanning and sorting. Someone either recognizes the package by shape or the contents may be exposed. An operator grabs it and throws it in a corner to be retrieved later. Contents are almost never recovered. @Geezer is correct about how important packing and insurance are. I hope you had insurance.

Had that happen twice. The first time the P.O. told me they thought it came off a machine and through it out. After I told them they owed me for postage and razor they suddenly found it. The second time it was never found.

sounds like a Global shipping standard
I've had 3 razors liberated from well packed boxes via their scrupulous mail operators
hence I will not buy a razors from the states if EBay Global shipping is the only option
hopefully insured and good for the refund

I have this thing about packing. I over-pack everything.

Folks who sell things and pack poorly, well when they die they wind up in a cheap plywood coffin that breaks open as they are being carried to the hearse and dumps them on the ground.

I have had it happen. I always ship in a box now, bubble then shrink wrap what is inside. This obscures the item if they peak. Since doing so have never had an issue as a shipper
