That was you Tom? No, I lost nothing. I picked it up from a guy who had no clue what he was doing with hones. Both the 4/8 and the 1/220 were out of flat and the guy couldnt understand why people loved hones that were obviously not good enough to sharpen with. I cant leave a good hone in the hands of an abusive owner, so I gave them the love they needed and figured worst case, they get into the hands of a new guy who wanted to save with a good set of used hones.
I actually made 15 bucks on the set, and am glad to know they are serving people well instead of being tossed in a bin somewhere. Even if I had only broken even, I would still have been happy. When I worry about losing money, you dont see an auction starting at .99 cents

Yea, the 4k does seem to go quickly. I usually buy the full thickness nortons, use them no more than 1/4 way through, and then buy a new one. I have this mental quirk that demands my hones be fat and beefy. (I hone in-hand) and when they get thinner, I start getting more panicky that Im going to snag a finger on a blade. I know, I know, I'm a bit of a freak.
