Default Al Capone razor LOL !

I mentioned in another thread seeing a guy list a razor for high dollars saying it was Al Capone's and up pops the devil again. Apparently one of the suckers born every minute didn't bite. It is item # 150432199953 here.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks for a good laugh, Jimmy! The seller is correct in that the razor was manufactured in 1924 or 1925, so he must have Goins' Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings. He also shaves his legs, visible in one of his photos. At least the razor against leg photo isn't the hairy hillbilly one that made so many of us laugh a few months ago! This razor was not claimed to have been personally owned by Al Capone in the description, but sure was in the ad title-too bad that the seller did not research Mr. Capone and find out the following........Mr. Capone probably owned a number of fine razors, much better than the one in this ad. Finding one he really used would be quite a big deal.
Gabriele Capone (not Caponi as often claimed) was one of 43,000 Italians who arrived in the U.S. in 1894. He was a barber by trade and could read and write his native language. He was from the village of Castellmarre di Stabia, sixteen miles south of Naples.

I saw that one, the pic with the lady leg as a background must be a marketing tool for attracting buyers

Either dropping the 'capone' name, or the damascus-look-a-like etching. Either way, Barnum had it right.

I'm with you - how is it even allowed. But, looking at it from a totally greedy standpoint - it's "marketing" at it's best!

I think my new strategy will be, "NOS STRAIGHT RAZOR: RESTORED AND HONED A FEW TIMES FROM NOS"

Hmm, I like it. However, 'Old' has negative connotations. I'd take it a step further and say "NEW STRAIGHT RAZOR: BRAND NEW AND SHAVE READY FROM THE FACTORY before it was used repeatedly and honed to a nub"
