Thread: Sprock?

Just won this "Sprock" on Evilbay for £9 inc P&P

Initial searches indicate that its a trademark of Friedrich Ern & Co, who I seem to remember have a good reputation.

Anyone have more info on them?

I don't have any experience with a Sprock but think very highly of the Ern razors I have (5).

Well my research so far suggests that there were several companies with the name Ern in them and the one that owned the Sprock trademark wasn't the same as made Ator etc. Also it seems there may have been an English maker names G Sprock. I shall wait and see what it looks like when I get it. Really all that matters is how it cleans, hones and shaves.

My experience is with the Ator and Crown & Sword.

There is a little corrosion on the tang/tail and the bevel has a small flea bite which should hone out easily but its firm in the scales so I won't unpin it. Other than a few scratches its in amazing condition and its still sharp enough to shave arm hair, just!

The plan is just to use Autosol to clean it up, tape the spine while I sort out that nibble on my 1K stone then hone it with my coticule. Hopefully in time for tomorrows SOTD!

I'm pretty sure it's an Ern. It will be an excellent shaver.

Its taken a lovely edge with ease, honed on my coticule today and is indeed an excellent shaver.
