Thread: Best time/day to list an auction?

I've bought a bunch of things on what but haven't yet sold anything. I usually sell on Craigslist and I've had some good luck there.
However, after unpacking post move I've got some stuff I want to try to sell. I've put them on Craigslist but haven't had anything but real lowball offers so I decided to try the bay.

For you guys who have experience selling on the bay have you noticed a better time to list stuff?
(I'm getting rid of electronics and some speakers, not razors or watches or guns. Those don't get sold...)

I've always gotten my best results listing so that the auction ends mid-afternoon on a Saturday.

A friend of mine who is a pro ebay seller swears by having his auctions end on Sunday 8PM central time. He says more people have the free time to be at the PC at that hour.

It would be really cool if everyone that sells razors would set them to end on Sunday night at 8:00pm Eastern.
That way, Sunday would be auction day, it would be like a trip to a virtual antique store.

Thanks for the pointers. I've had an eBay account since 2002 but this is my first time selling. I remember sending out checks & money orders and waiting for them to clear so my new precious could ship.
Hopefully I'll get lucky and this will work out.

Selling on Sunday and then shipping immediately the next day gives the perception that you were quick to ship the item. You have a whole six working days for that item to get on the doorstep or in the mailbox. And my personal preference on time would be 7:40pm central so that item reaches peak hours across the nation. I also like 7:40 or a time close to it so I'm not listing my items exactly at 8:00pm and directly next to others who are selling at the same predictable time.
