Thread: Venting a little

I know we aren't supposed to link to active auctions, but I doubt it will matter in this case. Look at item 320744236939. It's one of those "revolutionary war era razors" that often pop up as "mountain men razors" or similar. I'm getting sick of it. I know there's nothing I can do, but it saddens me to see innocent people buying junk like that. The seller says it was featured in a book about American Revolution collecting. I just don't get it. It's up to $20 with 7 bids! Seriously people?!

I'm not defending the seller but .... if a razor like that one is in a book identifying it as a bona fide revolutionary period razor .... maybe it is. I've seen similar razors .... or whatever they are, identified as ancient Chinese razors. I haven't a clue as to whether it is one, the other or something entirely different. I believe I once saw one characterized as a blood letting tool.

I've seen that very same type of blade used by Buddhist monks to ritually shave their heads.

I know Jimmy. I don't think we'll ever find out unless someone has a copy of the book. I'm going to see if my library can get it on loan. I just think if it really were why he says it is, someone, anyone on here would have one (or four).

Something this common on the bay leads me to say they're not legit as described.

What's that saying about a fool and his money? None of our concern I'd say. Everyone buys things for their own reasons. I wouldn't pay a dollar for three with documentation, and signed affidavits.

I agree with you. In my humble opinion those are modern day knockoffs. Those have been for sale on Ebay for years.
