Thread: iwasakis

what do guys think about japanese razors here? just bought an iwasaki in the uk great looking razor gives a great shave too, maybe a bit pricey but i think well worth it .

First off, welcome to SRP!

I think kamisori razors (particularly Iwasakis) are great. I have two of them and, while they aren't my every day razors, I certainly enjoy using them once in a while. You will find a pretty strong following for kamisoris here on SRP.

We have many many threads concerning them here. Many have them but most use them now and then. A few guys use them on a regular basis. When properly honed and used I think they shave better than a western razor but that's my opinion. I have an Iwasaki and a bunch of older restored types. Years ago I sold the Tosukes but that's ancient history.

I agree with what has already been said. And I would add, if you age going to a Japanese razor from western razors, be prepared to relearn how to shave.
