Thread: Shave Creams

I've posted a couple of Threads on here, referance shaving creams. Gotten alot of good suggestions and have tried a couple. I'm not trying to be cheap, but at the same time, I want to keep my cost down, without my face having to suffer. So I'm trying to find the best shave cream at the best price. I've read several reviews on C.O. Bigelow and haven't read a single bad one. Has anyone out there, in the shaving world, have any complaints with C.O. Bigelow, or is it an all around good cream for the dollar ?

The only complaint I have with the C.O. Bigelow cream is that my local Bath & Bodyworks doesn't carry it.

The cream is $13.50, the soap, 3.50, glycerine (if you don't already have it) about $6.50 for a multi-year supply you'll use w/ soaps that need help w/ moisture. I use 4-5 swirls in the cream, a couple dozen shaves w/ it already, and it looks almost unused. At this rate, it should last through 3-4 pucks of soap - well over a year's worth of shaves, and is the best lather I've experienced thus far. I'm not fond of having to mix soaps and creams, but the quality of the lather is rather compelling.

Real Shaving creams are pretty good and the price is about $7 for a tube. I believe they are very similar to the "Three T" creams in their performance, as they are made by the same people. I'd have to look it up to be sure, but I believe that's the word on that.

No complaints here. I don't have a lot of experience with the expensive creams, but I was given a tube of C.O. Bigelow early on in my wet shaving experience, and have not found anything better after trying several inexpensive creams. I would say it is definitely worth the money you spend on it, which isn't much when you consider how many shaves you get out of one tube and the quality of the lather it produces.

I've got some flying its little way all the way from the US to AU as I type, so I can't say, just hope it's as good as or better than Musgo Real, which is my favorite all round cream at the moment...If you haven't tried Musgo Real you should, it lathers madly and smells like nice, fresh, talcum powder, and the smell lingers...

C.O. Bigelow is top shelf for sure. It's actually a re-flagged version of Proraso. I'm as keenly in tuned to affordable gear that works as any man alive and C.O. Bigelow is not only quite affordable but great quality as well. I think you'll like it, I've used it for several years now and I sure do.

I use C.O. Bigelow too and I love it. Good value too, at Bath and Body, buy two get one free. It's my go to cream on the days I have to shave after a no-shave day; that's when I have a very heavy beard. I have no complaints.

CO Bigelow is fantastic. B&BW just had a sale - buy 2 get 1, and I walked away with 3 tubes for $10. However, the menthol feeling is......... not for everyone. That said, I find that after a shave I can't feel any irritation whatsoever, and I'm still a newbie.

It's made by Proraso and says so on the tube.
