Default First Shave With the Wade & Butcher

The W&B arrived just after xmas, a 4/8's i think, and felt pretty sharp I have to say. In very good order too. I had my first few passes today just on the side of the face and tried a little neck under the jaw bone...unlike the razor that came with the strop..this one removed hair and left smooth ish skin with no blood.
I like this, and can't wait until tomorrow. The blade could do with honing I think, but the shave after a good stopping is smooth, not pulling, it did struggle on the neck hair though..i guess it's all about practice and building Rome in however long it takes.

Good shaving is a combination of sharp blade and good technique. It'll come.

You can always send it out to a pro for honing

I bought a Chinese stone from a guy in Poland. He rated the grit at 12k..certainly feels smooth like marble, but is blue. I lapped the stone using the step by step guide on the site, and the guides on honing. After honing the blade and re stropping, being methodical, making haste slowly, taking my time, I had my first shave today with a "sharp " razor". I t was like running a squeegie across my face, leaving no hair. I got carried away and did the whole face, and did the cheeks, WTG, XTG and ATG....my face is sore, but not raw, and smooth as baby's butt. The whole experience, because of the work put in, is amazingly satisfying. I never though something as simple as a shave could provide that.
so far....no blood.... but as an observation, i need to apply a little less pressure.
