Thread: dumb question about wiping razor

How much do I have to worry about wiping the razor after it gets wet? Can doing this with a bathroom towel damage the razor, assuming I just grab the blade with a towel and wipe it?

If you get the razor wet simply wipe it off on the towel with the spine leading, or from shank to tip, never let the towel go into the razors edge. The best thing I can think of to tell you is what I do, keep the razor away from the faucet(prevents dings) and out of the water(prevents rust), just wipe the soap and whiskers off the blade and onto the towel.

So if the towel fabric rubs the bevel as you wipe the razor, it doesn't tear up the edge or anything.

Not as long as you move the razor in a stropping direction.

I wipe as I would any sharp knife, just gently pinching the blade while pulling it across blade pointed away from your fingers.

It hasn't harmed the edge so far. As long as you are not cutting into the cotton fibers you should be fine. I wipe this way to remove the oil also before stropping.

Always respect the blade!!! That sucka is sharp!

I've been doing towel wipes for a year and a half. No damage. I'd worry more about the towel, than about the razor.

Rinse the razor well before you dry it. Deposits on the razor will result in staining and possibly rust.
