Thread: Razor Sleeves

Here's a question on a topic that I have never seen here yet. On Superiorshave.com, they offer Silicone-Treated Cotton Razor Sleeves, which they claim helps/prevents rust on your razor, without any other treatment. Has anyone ever used these before and if so, do they work like they claim and is it a good investment to have for your razors ?

I have used those little sleeves, I like 'em. I also use a very thin coat of mineral oil after each use. So far no problems. I even bought a couple of those gun sleeves that are treated and made my own, worked just as well, far cheaper with just a bit of sewing required. I plan on keeping them. Disclaimer- I live in the second driest state in the nation, humidity not usually a problem.

one more thing, i store them with the pivot down in the sleeve. seems to be where the damage would be the worst.

Dissapointed Only one response to my Straight Razor Sleeve from thesuperiorshave.com, after it was viewed 63 times. I was hoping to get more feedback on whether the sleeves were worth the investment or even if they were needed. Not that they would break the piggy bank, one sells for $4.50 or you can buy them in packs for a cheaper price, for example; pack of 5 for $18.00. Is there anyone else out there in SRP land that use, or have used these sleeves ?

I've used them for all my razors. I never put oil on my razors after use, and in five months of keeping them in the cupboard under my bathroom sink I haven't had a single issue with rust. These are all carbon steel razors, not stainless.

I actually just moved into a larger apartment, so I actually have storage space outside of the bathroom (which is always preferable), but I figured it might be helpful to know that even in a potentially harmful environment like I had them in the sleeves worked great.

Of course, I am rather anal about wiping off every trace of water before putting the razor back into the sleeve for storage (including folding a square of toilet paper and getting it between the scales and around the pivot). That probably helps

Just curious about the title "Razor Sleeves" and clicked it. Sorry I have never used them so I can't tell you
any experience with them.

if one can deal with the owners arrogance , these sleeves are nice

I keep my razors in those sleeves. I don't use any oil. I have no issues with rust. IMO they are a great bang for the buck item.

With using the 'Sleeve' , do they suggest where the razors should be store. In? Out? Of the bathroom? Boxed? Closed cabinet?

i would say closed drawer, the bath room still gets damp--------------does anyone has any extras they would like to sell
