    Default Restoratioin Help

I'm a college student and recently discovered straight razor shaving. I'd like to learn to restore old razors and for the most part I think I know how I should go about doing it since I have been researching constantly, but there are a still gaps in my knowledge that i was hoping you guys could help with.

Since I don't have access to power tools (and don't really have the necessary know how) I'd like to do my restorations by hand. From what I understand all I need to restore the blade is sand paper, metal polish, and a stone to hone. Is this all?

Since I'm not so handy with power tools I'm planing on purchasing replacement scales here

but have no idea how to remove old pins or install new ones. Any help would be greatly appropriated, I'm happy to be part of the community!

For unpining and pining a razor the search function will get you many threads.
Here you can see a wiki entry about pinning
