    FYI mark,
The first photo has the best white balance and is the best representation of the true color of the brushes. As for your question, I wouldn't know but it may have something to do with the source of the silvertip (Chinese vs European?). These brushes are worlds softer than the regular badger brushes that I have used.

    Hope this helps!

Is the camera light changing the brush?
Is time / use breaking down the silverness?

So in a way Im asking what makes the brush tips more shinny?
Is a shinny-er (pardon the grammar) brush better? softer?

    Thanks in advance...

I just bought one of theses and i must say I agree with this review entirely. It was a huge upgrade from my low-end shavemac and I am quite pleased. So pleased in fact that I have another on special order...

Those are a couple of the nicest hand crafted brushes I've seen since searching the internet for brushes. The pics show excellent craftsmanship, a simple balanced design with the user in mind, nothing fancy just clean lines and quality components. Sounds like they would be a joy to lather with.

I just received one of the 28mm brushes in mystery wood.

    This thing is awesome!

I went for broke on tonight's shave and used the new brush and Dubl Duck for the first time. Now I'm going to go back and search for that "Rogaine for the face" thread.

I got my 28mm Madrone burl brush today and just finished shaving...it was amazing to say the least and was much better than I could have imagined...Sicboater's review was perfect, but to be honest, I thought it was even better...

I love the long handle, its perfect for my GP scuttle (even though I lost a ton of lather, mainly due to my over eagerness in preparation)...Using my shorter brush, my fingers would always be inside the scuttle itself, now, they are comfortably outside...Additionaly, I think that a long handle brush is a great variation from the standard brush sizes, gives the lathering expereince a different feeling...Not sure how to explain it but its different...

The brush itself is massive and the bristles really are velvet soft yet fim as mentioned, wonderful sensation...Im sure with time and use it will only get better...

The brush held the heat from the scuttle wonderfully and I would probably say that this is the most important characteristic for me...

The only 'con' to this brush is the fact that it is so large and also absorbs so much cream/lather that I found I had to add a bit more than normal to reach the thick consistancy I prefer...However on second thought, I think most people will agree, this is not much of a con as much as it is a pro...I will run out of creams faster thus needing to buy new and different creams more often...

This brush is fantastic and I would highly reccomend it.

I got a 26mm in matte ebony a few weeks back. The thing is just beautiful. I'm a really slow shaver (noob+tricky beard shape to shave around), but this thing holds its heat through at least the first 1/2 hour of my shave. Definitely one of the nicest things I've had the pleasure of dragging across my face
...and a pretty derned good value if you ask me.
Will pick up a smaller one some time in the near future (one does want options).

That was probably the longest I have ever taken to eat porridge... lol

Seriously though, I wanted to try the monster couple of times so that I might give you a true impression of its utter magnificence. Then I re-read Rob's epic & realised it was pointless

This is an awesome monster of a brush with which I can happily spend far too long lathering up. It massages half of my face at once, keeps warm even on the third pass & produces such thick lather in such large quantities that my only lathering concern now is if I will run out of soap. It takes pride of place on my shave shelf. Not least because it has given everything else a massive inferiority complex.

I am now spoilt for life & can honestly say your could not spend a wiser buck on your brush.
