    Default Simpson Tulip 4

I have owned the T4 for about a year and I have to say that it is truly a spectacular brush!!

It has a tall loft for a 24mm knot but due to the stiffer and thicker guaged badger hair the brush is just right. It will splay if you force it but it has a nice massaging effect when in use. This so called 'white' badger hair commonly called two band has some very very attractive quallities. The hair shaft is resiliant and the tips are soft, a match made in heaven.

I cannot count how many times I have used it becuase I don't know. There are times when this is all I want to use and will use it exclusivly for weeks on end. If I really think about it, I think I prefer to use it in the summer months where the heat here in Tokyo is neverending and a good stiff lather massage is just what I want to feel clean and refreshed.

The handle on this brush is very large. I find it perfect for the hand grip I use and just can't get enough of the shape of the handle. It is beutiful!!

Lather making qualities are a non-issue with this brush as it will lather any and everything there is about there.

I do wish it came in a larger size, a size 6 would be great, I think. Come to think of it a size 6 in ivory would be the pinnicle of shaving brushes in my mind.

Now on to the pics. The fist few are from over a year ago when I had recently got it and the rest are much newer.

You can see that it has a tall loft and is very dense in the pre-bloom pic below!!

These are the newer pics after about a year of use. It has only lost a few hairs out of many many latherings. (sorry of the B&B pics but that is the only place I have them saved.)

As you can see the decal came off but it is in undamaged condition and remains in the box this the instructions.

    Final verdict:

The Simpson Tulip 4 in two band Super Badger is my favorite and most prized brush. I hope it lasts and lasts and lasts. The combined loft and density, along with the softer tips are a match made in heaven.

Great Brush the T3 is one of my favorites. IMHO Simpson makes the best brushes available. They aint cheap but you get a brush that will last a life time and a great feel with great ability to whip up a ton of lather.
