The Assyrian
Semogue 620 Boar Brush
Gentlemen:
From the start, even before buying this brush, I had a good feeling about it. I knew it would be a good brush. It is in every way I imagined a quality boar brush should be.
Most of my brushes are badgers of various quality, including a Semogue silver tip. The Semogue 620 is my third boar brush, and already, after only three shaves, it has become one of my favorites. With a 22 mm. knot, 44 mm. handle, 50 mm. loft, this is a relatively small brush that fits perfectly in my small hands. In black and transparent acrylic, the handle is notched to help secure the grip. I especially like this feature.
The Semogue 620 is dense, with just the right degree of stiffness I like in boar brushes, including the tips. Obviously with use it will soften more, but I hope not that much more. I want my boar brush to feel like a boar, not a high-end badger.
This brush holds water well, and if loaded properly with soap or cream, it can maintain good lather throughout the shave. Even so, somewhere along, I like to give it a swirl or two more of soap or cream with a touch of water just to keep the thick lather I started with.
If I had to do it over again, would I buy the Semogue 620 boar brush? Yes, I would.
Regards,
Obie
