Thread: Vulfix Turnback Travel Brush

Vulfix Turnback shaving brush in Super Badger - Handmade, lathe turned handle finished in faux Ivory. In my opinion, this is the best travelling brush, by far.

As we all know, Simpsons/Vulfix is one of the best when it comes to making brushes, and this one is certainly no exception.

Like the Simpsons "Major", this one also uses its handle as a solid case, and effectively screws into its handle for protection when travelling. The bottom of the handle is open to allow drying while stowed.

I also have a Simpsons Major Super badger travel brush, but honestly, the Vulfix Turnback is far superior to the Simpsons Major.

CRAFTSMANSHIP:

Very good in general, but the thread on the screwback could possibly get damaged if you really over-tighten it for some reason.

PRICE:

If anyone finds a better travel brush for the price, I will be impressed.

Absolutely brilliant price tag for what you get in this brush. You can pick one up in Super Badger hair for only $60! This is a real steal, even if you just want to use it as a "home" brush.

Only reason for the big price difference between the Simpsons Major and the Vulfix Turnback, is most likely that the "Simpsons" brand name is more sought-after than the "Vulfix" name, even though it really is the same company these days!

LATHER MAKING ABILITY:

For a top quality travel brush, you can't beat this one. With its 20mm knot and Super badger hair, it lathers up very quick even when lathering straight onto the face! (Which is what I prefer when travelling. I don't take a bowl along when away from home)

KNOT DENSITY, TIP SOFTNESS & BRISTLE STIFFNESS:

When compared to the Simpsons Major, and most other screw-back travel brushes, this one is in a league of its own.

With its Super Badger hair, it is superb, and equal to, or better than some of the best non-travel brushes in the 20mm+ knot size.

The Super Badger knot you get in this one is of the same quality hair as the Simpsons Major, but it's a much bigger one with about the same knot as most home use brushes, at less than half the price!

SUMMARY:

In my opinion, this is the best travel brush by a mile, and I have tried quite a few so far.

Personally I don't want to compromise the quality of my shave when I travel, so I want my travel brush to be just about as good as the brush I use at home.

It is part of my job to travel constantly, and I am glad to say I have finally found the best travel brush for my needs.
