Default stupid question about cheap silvertip badger brush

i got a present of a cheap silvertip badger brush. i found out it came from ebay and costs about $11 s/h included. i thought i would try it out and it worked great and feels great, makes great lather. but i knew it would not last and now it has started to shed. is there a way to fix this or should i just use it until it falls apart and throw it away

I wouldn't have thought the handle would fall apart. If it sheds so much it becomes unusable, then just pull the knot out and epoxy another knot in. The Golden Nib would be my choice for a replacement knot when the time comes.

the handle is not falling apart, just starting to shed 1 or 2 hairs at a time. still a very serviceable brush. is the golden nib a web site?

Yes, I think Anthony posts here sometimes. His knots are fantastic value and he offers fantastic service.

I would use it for a few times and see if the shedding settles down. If it doesn't cut and scrape the knot out and replace with a nice new one from Golden Nib. Here is a link to show what you can do. http://www.straightrazorplace.com/fo...rs-dollar.html

If its a tweezerman, its probably a good brush, a step up from boar at least. I have one it shed for a few shaves and hasnt shed since and have had it for over a year, not a bad gift, there are worse things coming from ebay!
