About LinkBacksCreams can be used in place of soaps, or along with them... It's up to the user... I mostly use creams, and some soaps, and I don't usually mix the two... So, yes, they can be used alone.

yup - soap can inside?
yeah i may have to get one of these . ive been looking for a good scuttle as i havent had the experience of lather staying warm. i do like the idea of soap going inside though, is this possible with the G5 or not reccomended? thanks.
What sort of strops?
Guessing leather, linen and one using diamond stuff-

Some people like to experiment with razors, or stones, or soaps and creams... I dig strops. It's my laboratory

I strop for fun, actually... It's more zen-like for me than honing, or even shaving... I strop while I write papers... It kills time.
Also, it's a great way to break in horsehide... strop while you study, work on papers, watch TV, etc... Just keep stropping
Got my new G5 last week. What a beauty - and boy does it hold the heat.

readin this thread def makes me feel like i need one. As well as many more strops shved zombie!
