Default Hello - and a First

My first post, so Hello to you all.

My main hobby leaves me with a lot of off-cuts of Red Deer antler so I thought brush handles may be an option.

This is my prototype and is far from perfect.

The knot was from a nasty Wilkinson Sword bristle (faux badger) brush that would not be a great loss if things went wrong.

I capped the base with a piece of Greenheart, with a NS pin. The collar ring is NS as well.

I have ordered a few knots, so more brushes to come !

    Hello, NOTSHARP:

Welcome to Straight Razor Place. Your brush idea has potential for creatively designed handles. The slight curve will probably provide a desired brushing angle. Good work. Please keep us apprised of your progress.

    Regards,

    Obie

Nice brushes. We used to have a brush maker who used to do wood handles with MOP plugs on the base like that.

    Welcome

It is nice to see a nice "carved" brush being made. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome aboard. You'll have lots of potential creative input/output with your brushes here on SRP. Keep up the good work.

    Many thanks for the welcome.

I tried the bush last night and it is pleasant to use. It sits well in the hand and, without doubt, the slight curve to the handle works well - for me anyway.

does each brush we buy from you come with a free piece of venison?

I love the look of the brushes! I'm afraid every time I used it I would have a craving for venison braised in red with with caramelized baby onions though
