WOW !!
Good job !!
Using a straight is awesome. Just don't expect it to give you a fantastic shave right off the bat. You need to work at it. But by looking at what you just pulled off with that brush, I doubt hard work is an issue for you.
Let us know when you get your first straight !

Yup. I was up at the family cabin and was splitting wood for the wood burner and had this great piece come flying off that was straight grained. Something clicked in my mind so I cut off a chunk got out the pocket knife and started at it. When I got home I hit it with a lot of sandpaper to clean up the knife marks and used a rotary bit on my dremel to hollow out the hole for the knot. Oh and I was the one that cut the tree down also.
Thank you all for the kind words. Hopefully this weeks paycheck will let me get a razor and strop.
I will take pictures when I do.

Sounds like you are a highly resourceful individual and a skilled woodworker too. That's a hansom brush. Yep, you fit right into the mold for straight shavers.
Welcome aboard.

Nice work. Looks like it was made on a lathe. I believe I have an extra restoration laying around here that needs a resourceful owner. PM me if you still need a razor. Then you can get a nice strop and have some left over to maybee try some soaps etc. Don.

Yes, it does look like it was made on a lathe. I've done a number this way with wood bowls to match for craft shows and such. Lathes are cool. But, if you can do that kind of quality of work without one, my toque is off to you.
