Brush projects for a kid???
Hey all,
My daughter is looking for a small wood lathe project to do in her shop class. I have plenty of small cut offs of various exotic hardwoods so I thought of shaving brushes.
We have found knots on the bay out of China. Advertised as Badger and boar usually in boxes of 3-6 knots. Are these decent serviceable knots? Like anything else coming out of China I don't expect them to be top of the line but if they are total junk that are going to fall apart I don't want to waste the kids time.
Any of you had any experience with these?

I don't know how well i'd trust the quality of knots being sold on the bay out of China. If I were you i'd go here: Fountain Pen parts - NIBS, - Wholesale Fountain Pen Ink - Golden Nib AZ.
Much higher quality badger knots and still inexpensive.

Just about all the badger hair comes out of China. I suspect, since it's a real specialty item there are very few outfits actually making them. I imagine the stuff is sold in grades.

I get mine all from the golden nib and they are good quality, be sure to post some pictures of the finished products.

TGN also sells cosmetic brushes for the ladys,The knots are cheap.
I make them same as shaving brushes,my wife sells them like crazy at craft fairs.
She can sell them to her friends.
