    Default Faux Amber Bakelite

My Mom collects old bakelite jewelry, and mostly amber coloured bracelets and necklaces. I've also seen lots of the same at antique stores in my travels. When I first saw this material at Masecraft, I immediately thought it would make a good amber bakelite look a like.
Well I was right. I'm really happy with the way this came out, the colors through out the handle are fantastic and make it look old. Now I'm debating about taking steel wool to it to dull the finish and make it look even more vintage.

Here's a link to the material in rod form. Polyester Strawberry Amber Rod 1 1/2"

and here's a link to sheet material, I think this would look fantastic on our old blades. Polyester Pearl Strawberry Amber 1/4"

Nice job, as usual. You have a winner in that material for sure.

Looks like you had a spaghetti squash disaster in the work area!

I'm torn on giving it a "distressed" look. It looks so darn good as-is.

Edit: just looked at that sheet material. A matching razor with that rod material as a wedge? Now that would be a slick matched set.

That's really nice looking material. I'd be curious to see a test piece with a matte finish too. It looks like it even makes cleanup fun!
The finished brush is an absolute beauty!!

Oh shades of my childhood looking at my mother's dressing table top! Love it, love it, love it. A great length to match the knot. And I really do like that knot. Boar? Horse?

I think this one I'm going to leave the way it is, but My curiosity about doing a matte finish will definitely, eventually make me experiment with obtaining that finish. I think it will look better than the high polish.
