Default Aluminium brush rebuild x 4

Have a few aluminum handles to redo.
    A Dubl Duck, a C mon, and a rubbetset 3 and 4.

First step will be the unthreading, if possible.
I know the rubbersets screw together from previous rebuilds. Not sure of the duck or cmon. They could be machine swaged.
If so, they will pose a greater challenge.
Intend to pop the dents with a snarling iron and will be ordering up some shavemac's soon enough..
    More to follow gents.
    Cheers.

Mike, the Duck and possibly the C-Mon are wood under thin aluminum, FME.

I reckon you will see as you unknot them........

Sound hollow, and definately thinner than the cast rubbersets Tom. If they are wood inside, will make for a harder dent removal on that Cmon. The duck, I may try to melt some low temp solder into the eroded areas after some flux.
All just theory till I crack them open though..

As expected, or hoped at least, the rubbersets separated well.

These will now have their under knot base areas soaked in kerosene overnight and they should come apart quite neatly. I just leave them upside down and fill the base up with a half ounce of kerosene and leave them be on the work bench on some rags. The kerosene, being a petroleum distillate attacks the rubber bond holding the knot in the aluminium cap and to date, has worked well on rubberset knot removals..
The Cmon, still no luck unscrewing that one. I get a bit of lateral rotation, then it binds up in either direction. Still not sure it's got a thread in there, but hoping...

Was thinking.....Have seen plaster-substance in those.
Might be easy to remove, fix dents, replace.

One Dubl-Duck one I ruined had wood inside. Like your silver brush?
    Something is in there!

I was thinking like the plaster in the Argyle you gave me Tom. Have no problem scraping that out to get to the dents.
If the two strap wrenches I'm bringing home tomorrow don't loosen the Cmon, I'm giving it a haircut and going in ghetto style from the top.
That's the one for you BTW Tom.
The 4 is phrank's and He gave me the duck, the 3 is the one I won from SRP (geezers stash) but after trying to like the boar knot, I just don't, so two bands for all I'm thinking. Some might get more, like the D01's from shavemac.

I am honored, so leave the strap-wrenches out......Crimped!
The 2-bands from TGN are still my faves. 5 years and more ago....

Don't know about the newer ones?
More scritchy than the shavemacs, Stiffer....

    The nib huh?
Well, once I clean it out will measure them all up.
Crimped is what I was thinking but always appreciate knowing for sure.
    Thanks Tom.
