Default Any homemade brush stands out there?

I need to get another brush stand. I have a plastic one that's pretty simple, and of course I could order another one just like it, but the thought occurred to me that maybe there's something lying around the house that I could use. Of course, all brush stands are pretty simple.

I tried to bend a wire coathanger around, using a broomhandle, but the result was pretty ugly and I just tossed the thing.

Anybody out there make one of these out of some typical household stuff?

Here are some DIY ideas from other members. A few links:

cheap and easy razor/ brush stand

    Ghetto brush holder

My shave den and neat brush holder

    Home made razor stand

Brush stand made from a hanger!

There are alot more out there, but these came up pretty quickly using the search feature. Hope these help.

I made on by bending a welding rod...the same thing could be accomplished with a coat hanger. It is so cheap it is not even worth taking a photo of, but it works great and left more money in my budget for good soap

What the heck. Here you go:

Here's one I made from sheet brass , and a block of wood . The plastic collar is made from tubing , split lengthwise . It has served me well for over 5 years .Name: 100_1035.jpg

I am not very handy at all and I was able to make both this brush and stand out of stuff from Mendards. The brush was a section I cut out of a premade spindle that I got for about $3 and the stand was a little premade base thing a section I cut out of a broken shovel handle and a dowel. Add some stain and seal it up ive been using it for almost 3 years now with no complaints. As far as a im concerned home made is way to go.

Here's one I made from Soapstone a while back:

    Another use for stone

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Here is my latest. The first one is great, but this one holds a wider range of sizes and holds keeps the handle dry as the knot soaks
