Default FS: Straight Razor Starter Kit #2

    SOLD
In trimming down my extras I thought I may make a couple of starter kits. This is the first one

    Razor:

    • 5/8 round point (a bit elongated 'french'?), full hollow, beautiful shoulderless design.
    • Cosmetically it has few stains and very light surface pitting mostly the back - it doesn't affect function.
    • The scales are fancy floral pattern, not sure if it's celluloid or some other plastic. Some warping which doesn't affect the function (see the picture). The blade is centered, but could be tighter - I still honed and stropped it the way it is.
    • Made in germany, the shank is stamped LEADER.
    • Jimps on bottom of shank for better grip.
    • shave ready

Since some people seem to be concerned about honing I am certainly happy to rehone the razor in the next few months, although I would think that by the time it needs honing you should be learning to do touchups.

    Strop:
Vintage 2.5"x18" (23" if you count the handles) Camel Brand. The leather is tanned red. The surface has a texture (it is the surface only, not the leather itself), however this doesn't seem to affect function (yes I've used it for a couple of weeks). I've washed the canvas - the handle on that part is broken.

Soap: A 1oz soap from Colleen Hurley @ Shaving, Bath and Body, Skincare, Home Fragrance, Brushes, Creams, Soaps - one of my favorite soaps.

Bonus: If you don't have a brush and want it you can have one of two vintage brushes - (1) boar bristle brush made by eveready, or (2) synthetic brush made by gibbs.

Price: $85 shipped in continental US, other locations - you pay the difference

wow, this seems like a great deal, I just got a starter kit for 65, and it was just a razor and a strop, this strop is much nicer and you get brushes.

Well, you get 'a brush', gotta save the other one for the next brushless person
BTW the boar brush still stinks of animal even though I've used it for about a week - I guess it wasn't really used much before I picked it up. I was considering saving the synthetic brush for travel, but since I've got 2 kits it's fair that I offer brush for either one.

But, yeah, I'm getting out of my trying out stuff phase as I never get to shave with some of my best razors.
of course, the razor and the strop are used and won't look as shiny as brand new ones, but they are quality for sure

And this one is SOLD packed, and leaving in the morning. Thanks SRP.
