    Thumbs up FS: 2 x 5/8 Wapi's (stamped)

I've 2 brand new stamped wapi's (unused except for shave test)

both 5/8 which I made shave ready earlier today.

    £25/$50/E32 - each shipped.

Both very sharp as I've just taken off 1.5 weeks of growth in 2 passes during the shave test.

Gotta love the weak American dollar...

I'd love to give a Wapi a try, but I can't quite afford to. See above...

Sorry guys but I can't help but feel obligated to say -

    1) Yes the dollar is shit against the pound
    2) I paid $20 UNHONED for these each
    3) Additional charge of $20 for making SHAVE READY
    4) Additional $10 for shipping anywhere in world (which I think is damn feckin generous as the weight of the handles alone cost as much to send to US from where I am at my local post office)

So, I make that a total of $50.

I think Steve at the Invisible Edge will vouch for me on how good of value I'm letting these go at.

What it's becoming unafordable is the honing services.
Whoever is into str8 for the long run, needs to get some stones and learn how to hone, or get a Dovo Shavette and save even more.

£10/$20 is pretty much standard for a honing service. Especially when the razor needs to be honed from scratch with bevel establishment.

Your post doesn't read well (spelling and grammar) but I think that's what you were getting at.

I really do wish some of the experienced members would give me some backing here....

I'll back you up, Graham. IMO $50 all inclusive is a reasonable price. If people have been able to get them for $40, it's not like you're asking $75+ for each.

Mike of the Well Honed Razor is selling them for $55 with a two to three week wait. He mentions how the cost includes some free touchups, but again, for someone wanting a Wapi now, I stand by my opinion that your $50 price is more than fair.

Well, I would disagree with this. I guess it is unaffordable only if you earn min. US wage or less, in which case you probably want to stick with DE razors.

Think about this - to hone a razor you'll spend an hour, may be two, you'll have to shave-test it, deal with packaging and shipping, and you'll have to purchase stones which can be expensive. But you may argue that your time is worth less than $7-$10/hour esp. for a low skill job like honing (yes, it's a skill, but it's not rocket science). This is fine, except that there's also the initial investment in time to get reasonably good at it. I don't think it is less than 100 hours, probably several times this. Also touching up a razor is much easier than honing it in the first place.

At the current $15-$20 honing rates paying is more than worth for most people, economically speaking. Personally I decided to learn to hone, despite the economic factor - to me it's a challenge and this is a hobby. However, I don't think I'll be offering honing services any time soon - the only razors I hone are the ones I hone for me (because it is a challenge to get each razor to shave as well as possible), or as a favor.

But it's all good - once you start shaving with the edges you put on your razors it'll all become clearer
