Default CC Paypal & Non CC Paypal

    Hi all,
I feel like I'm the only one who didnt know this, but for anyone else wondering:

non-credit card (CC) paypal = funds are already in your paypal account.
cc paypal = funds are provided by using your credit card.

It is free to transfer funds to another paypal account, if the funds are in your paypal account.

If you do not have funds in your account and send them, (CC Paypal) the other person will incur a fee.

With a personal paypal account, you can only recieve so many of these CC transactions a year. After this you have to upgrade to a business account. Thats why people stipulate non-CC paypal.

See the links below to paypal fees. Correct as at 30 June 2008.

    Paypal Australia

    Hope someone found this helpful

It's not necessary for a business account, you just need to verify your address, at which point any money that comes into the receiving account will incur fees, CC or non CC alike. The fees for accepting CC payments aren't very much cheaper with an address verified account than a non verified one, IIRC theres only a 1% difference. What paypal fails to mention (or I just missed it) when they are telling get address verified and pay only 3.x% rather than 5.9%, is that you also need to pay x% for receiving money. I'm still trying to establish what %age that receiving money fee is, but I think it is around 1.3%.

This has been my experience anyway and YMMV.

@ Old School: there has been a link in a post not so long ago, taking you to the PayPal page that explains exactly how their fees are calculated.

I have a business account, and the fees do vary, I think there is a minnimum they charge, because they recently charged me $0.52 for a $7.45 sale, but only $1.90 for a $55 sale...
It gets expensive when you start incurring these fees... On top of that there may be variances in the shipping costs, DHL is really bad about this...
If you decide to get a web site there are some hefty fees there as well...
    not much you can do...

My Paypal verified business account charges 3% of the amount received plus 30 cents for each transaction. on International it adds a currency conversion factor which can add another 1% to 2%. In practice it typically seems like 1% additional but may depend on the source country as thier fee schedule indicates a higher fee than I actually pay.
