Default A stub tail Wade & Butcher

From Wade & Butchers first decade circa 1820. The blade faces as received exhibited pretty heavy and uneven grind lines although the pictures do not show it very well. It appeared to have no polishing done after it left the Sheffield sandstone wheel. Almost crude by todays standards. A razor for the common working man and probably viewed as just a utility type tool. The near wedge blade is 11/16 with the early upward swept toe. The razor had very little hone wear. Restored using a glazed finish as it originally had but a bit more refined. The scales were badly delaminated so new ones were copied in honey horn keeping the original steel collars. The lead wedge is a deviation from the originals which were wedgeless. I've made a few wedgeless scales in the past and I think they are not fun to make and I avoid them whenever possible.
A couple of in work pictures at 400 grit and the bevel set to check it will be thin and even.

Very nice, Karl. Neat razor, an oldie! I like the shape of the scales, old style that pairs well with the blade.
