    Default Clauss USMC

On this day in 1775 the finest fighting force the world has ever known was born in a tavern in Philadelphia. To celebrate the birth of the United States Marine Corps I wanted to restore this Clauss USMC. It was in fair condition with some discoloration and light pitting. Most of the pitting came out but there were a couple of stubborn spots on the back of the blade. I spent a fair amount of time on the sleeveless sanding drum and some 220 grit until in finally started to look nice and clean. I then worked up to 800 grit and polished with Dialux green compound. The scales sanded easily and shined up quickly on the buffer.

Happy birthday Marines and Semper Fidelis.

Boot camp photos are the best. You're still in a sense of shock and fear, then they dress you up an snap a pic.

Happy birthday USMC. Thank you for your service. Nice job. Difficult to restore as the razors are plated and corrosion can lift the plating.

Nice razor. I bet my Uncle would like to have one of those.

I wouldn't store it right next to an ARMY razor though.
