Epoxy. Sanded the slabs to the correct thickness, gave one side a thin coat of epoxy and clamped them together between a couple scrap hunks of wood over night.

Awesome! Thanks for the information. I am planing on using some burl veneer for the outside of some scales and was thinking of doing it just as you did. I feel more confident now.

I am getting ready to cut another dozen scales tomorrow. I was going to do another bloodwood backed set and a yellowheart backed set. This time the ebony will be much thinner so I get a larger contrast ring around the scale.

I think a bloodwood and yellowheart set would look really great too. just personal opinion
