Default Dovo and J Allen Re-scales

This Dovo Renaissance is done in African Blackwood aka Senegal Ebony
Devin wanted to replace the Red G scales that had been put on this razor only because they kept loosening up ...

He chose the Ebony and wanted the matched brass lined wedge, The finish on this is a hand rubbed Permalyn rifle stock oil I have used before on custom stocks this was the first time I used it on scales and I love the results.... Keep in mind there is quite a bit more work involved in getting these finishes besides just buying Permalyn and rubbing it on... if only it were that easy.....

Devin wanted new scales also put on this XXL Joesph Allen he chose the Honduras Rosewood and again wanted the brass lined wedge, I chose the Ebony for the wedge to bring out the coloring of the Rosewood,,,
Again I used the Permalyn stock oil for a hand rubbed finish...

Beautiful - one word to sum it up.

I have a question though. The J. Allen looks more like a wedge to me. I wonder why they called it "Hollow Ground Razor."

I would guess the grind at a 1/4 hollow so technically I guess that is a Hollow grind

OK that was my best guess...

    That finish indeed looks amazing.
Yet it's the kind of finish one can only get away with on a perfectly flawless object.
It highlights your perfect scales, Glen.

    Great job,
    Bart.
