Thumbs up Wade & Butcher Superior Concave / Wingfield Rowbotham & Co - Micartas

These are part of a series for our dear Gugi.

The first one is a Wade & Butcher - fine India steel - superior concave. Boy oh boy, those are so gorgeous. Concave, upper and lower tang jimps,...

It needed a good polish mostly. The scales are black paper micarta, polished to a high shine, brass/silver hardware and tapered bloody red jasper recon stone wedge.

The second is a Wingfield Rowbotham & Co - Sheffield razor that came with cheap plastic scales and a ivory covered tang. Same nice polish was needed for this one. First one I've ever seen myself.

For this combo I used a burgundy linen micarta, brass/silver hardware and yellow dino bone recon stone wedge. I also tried to stay as close to the original scale design on this one.

One thing's for sure. Gugi surely has a worthy collection of vintage straight razors in his possesion.

    Enjoy

Nice Work! That black micarta almost looks like horn. Is there any grain on it?

There's no texture at all and it's an excellent substitute to horn with none of the warping or other horn issues that can arise.

I love the linen micarta. Beautiful color and texture on those scales.

    Both beautifully done!

But I'm another that *really* loves the stuff I've seen you do with micarta. There's just something very refined and yet simple about it. Really cool.
