Default R. Hibberd 8/8 wedge in blond horn

    Greetings everyone,

Here is my latest restoration. It’s an 8/8 "R. Hibberd" wedge from Sheffield. This was an eBay find that came with a Masonic etch but was without a handle. I had hoped to save the etch, but the pitting was too deep, so I ended up regrinding the blade. The pits on the spine ang tang were so deep that I didn’t bother trying to remove them. Besides, I think they add character.

I used blond (or honey) horn from Masecraft for the scales. The wedge is Moonglow acrylic from the same place. The pins are nickel silver rod from Texas Knife Maker’s supply. I still need to hone the blade, but I’m looking forward to shaving with it.

I don't have an approximate age for the razor, so if anyone knows, I'd appreciate finding out. I tried looking up the touch marks in my books, but I couldn't find this particular sequence.

I took a picture with most of the light off, so that you can get an idea of how the Moonglow glows.

For anyone interested, this is what the Hibberd blade looked like when I got it.

This is the blade after my regrind.

Great looking razor, the horn is awesome.
I have tried the phosphorescent acrylic for wedges its pretty cool imo.

I don't think that I would have though of using moon glow in a razor. Great idea.
