Joseph Rodgers & Sons- my second restore
This is my second attempt at restoring a blade. This time I used walnut for the scales and a pre-ban ivory spacer. I tried to give the handle a nautical look, kind of a shops prow, and hence the nautical scrimshaw.
I left the patina on the blade. I did clean it up but the pitting and staining is such that a rookie like me could do more harm than good. Plus I like the look.
Please feel free to comment. I really enjoy doing this sort of thing and hope to do more.

nice idea-the nautical look. Did you oiled the wood?

AWESOME!
I love the spacer, and how it reaches back into the scales/flares out the front.
Excellent work, keep them coming!
Also, the blade might benefit from some Maas and a toothbrush/rough rag if you are so inclined... However, if you dig the aged look, leave it as is.
Nice.

Master of insanity
Excellent, and totally original idea. How did you do the scrimshaw?

Way to think outside the box. I really like the idea of items just barely beyond the standard, but done well enough that it melds well with what is there.

I did it by hand using a #11 xacto blade.
