Thread: First and Second Restos

The first pic is the before of "the Old English Razor"
I don't have a before of the other one.





Here are two I have been working on. The one in Black Horn was a no name in that was in Blonde horns with 'The Old English Razor' on them. The scales were too far gone, so I cleaned up a set of horn scales I had from another blade.
The Oak razor is a Rogers and Son , I think, All that could be read was 'Sons' on the tang. This was my first attempt at scale making. The scales are oak, the wedge is mahogany. I learned alot from this one.
In the foreground is another set of scales I am working on, Bass wood and Mahogany.

Those are some good looking razors. Great job.

Where did you get the scales? I see another set in the picture unused. Did you buy them as a kit somewhere?

The Black horn I had from another blade. Actually I think it was the blade in the Oak scales. (That blade was apparently reduced in size before I bought it, it no longer fit the scales, too short and too narrow. )
I made the Oak scales from Oak stock bought at a craft store.
I also made the Bi-colored scales in the foreground, from Mahogany and basswood, both purchased at hobby shops.

That one is most certainly a Rodgers, by the way.
