Default Wostenholm 7/8 wedge in ash

I actually did this one a good while ago, but I had used those microfasteners 1/16" brass screws. I stopped using them because I don't like that the screw heads stick out. So I decided to remove the screws, and use pins. Since it was on my bench, I decided to take some pics.

This was my first attempt at 'fancy' scales. The form of the scales follows the line between the spine and the blade. The holes are spread evenly between the 3d pin and the butt pin, and the hole near the wedge traces the shape of the notch in the blade when closed.
The butt wedge is made from a scrap of brown meranti I still had lying around. The 3d pin is a simple pin with a black piece of coating from an electric wire that fit just right.

The blade was a 7/8 Wostenholm that I scored on ebay. Because of the etching, I did not sand the blade; I just polished it with felt wheels and polishing compound. Because of that, the mild pitting and water damage that was on the blade is still there. I cleaned it up to turn it into a nice shaver (which it is), not to turn it into a minty blade.

Well done! How do you like the thumb notch on the scales?
