First W&B, First Horn Scales
In my opinion, probably the coolest razors out there are the old Wade & Butcher choppers. Because I like this razor so much it has sat on my shelf since I scored it on ebay 10 months ago. I wanted to wait until I felt confident enough in my restoration skills to do it justice.
As it turn out after thinking about it for 10 months I decided I like the aged look of the blade, and only gave it a minor clean.
The scales were trashed though so I had my first experience working with horn. With a little help from Brad's videos they turned out really well.
The pins are Nickle Silver with s/steel washers.
Another first for me, the wedge is aluminium, polished up nicely.
looking forward to honing this baby up.
Grant.

They did go well. So much so that I thought it was Brad's work when I saw it! Lovely.

i'm curious how you guys get the pins so nice and round. is that a function of the smoothness of the peening ball on the hammer? i just can't do that. i have a W&B blade i need to rescale, got everything i need and am on vacation this week and the wife is going away for three days, so i can do this in a leisurely fashion in between finishing painting the bathroom and dismantling and recycling the piano on the porch.

that razor and those scales look stunning! Brad's video series is great. I got a lot of priceless information from them.
I'd like to know how all you fellows get the pins so round and perfect. That is something I'm still struggling with. I even went into Microfastener territory, because my pinning was not improving.
Congratulations on your first, and clearly amazing work with horn.
