Thread: T Parkers Warranted Razor - Restored to life

Picked this up on eBay for £9.51 ($15) with the intention of sorting & selling. It was a bit nasty when I got it but I instantly thought it would be a stunner when finished so it's turned into a keeper.

I've tried to make the razor look good while still maintaining a sense of age. It was a bit of an exercise in self-restraint not to polish it back to perfection, however now I'm finished I'm happy with the sense of character it's retained.


The blade was wire brushed and the worst of the grime removed with 60 grit paper. A lot of elbow grease progressed this through to 2500 grit then polished on a cotton mop with a fine compound.
I left the wedge pin alone and wet sanded the scales from 800 up to 2500 grit paper finishing with a fine plastic polish.
The scales have come up nicely - not absolutely sure of the material - definitely appears to be ivory but seems a little denser than anything I've seen before (maybe walrus) it also has a bit of a pinkish tinge.


The only marking is stamping to the tang "T Parker's, Warranted Razor", haven't been able to find anything on this maker so any info. would be gratefully recieved.
Based on my very limited knowledge I'm guessing this razor is likely mid-1800's, any more educated opinions would be very welcome.

There may a be a possibility that they are bone as well. I was looking at the grain, but couldn't tell.
