Thread: Custom Kropp.

Well after using these on a custom job I put together over the last week or two, I posted a few photo's yesterday, well in a moment of reflection i decided i didn't like that blade in those scales, i've always been the type of person who's hard to please regardless if I must start a job all over again, it's a case of if i dont like something, well they had to come off, I already had a lovely looking Kropp razor i restore a while back, the simplistic no nosense of the Kropp blade suited the cocobolo scales perfectly, the German blade is not to my liking really to ornate, not my style, anyway that was probably reflected in the rushed photo's, well the Kropp looks much better, so what do you think.

Jamie, I thought it looked nice the first time around but the new set of scales look great.
What did you line them with? And what is the finish on the timber?

Hi Stu, well the liners were purchased from Woodlandknifesupply_com on Ebay in faux ivory 1mm thickness,, you would need to contact him to cut them a little larger because the standard knife set is a little to small for a straight razor scales, as for the wood well Cocobolo is a fairly oily wood, so after i finished i gave it a wipe down with some linseed oil, then a light polish with a dry cloth.

I STILL like the liners and the wedge. Yes, good move on the blade change. I have done that before. There are probably some ideas for that Solingen blade swirling around. The simpler look of the blade goes perfectly with the natural finish, IMHO. Much nicer pics too. Sweet razor and kudos for preserverance!

That's a great looking job. Kropp is a good blade. I have an 8/8 and it shaves very nicely.
Cocobolo can be hard to apply the finish. Looks like you did it correctly.
