Salutations,
I am currently working on a restore on a W&B myself. Looks very similar to yours there if I remember correctly. The "Sheffield" part of the stamp isn't complete, like yours. I bought mine at an antique shop with dime sized rust spots on the blade. I can only hope to have it turn out as nice as your straight. I am curious, why the change in scale styles? Is the one you ended with more comfortable for you?
Sincerely,
JackofDiamonds

I'm on The Straight Road
I just made a pattern for scales that I liked and would be sort of "beefy" enough for this blade. I had roughed out the scales and was hand-sanding the blade at low grits when I must have run into a pit near the edge, because next thing I knew, I had a rather disconcerting chip in the edge of the blade. Luckily, there was plenty of metal left to make up for the loss of nearly 1/8" of material, so in the end, I probably would have made the scales a touch narrower. As to the style, I just wanted to do something a bit different with this one. I've got a couple where I kept a rounded design, including a Bow Razor that is in progress where I'm going for the classic look with black horn, but I just decided to change it up with this one.

It came out great JD...you should be very proud of this one. I love working with padauk...out of everything, it's neck and neck with Bubinga for my favourite wood to play with.

I believe you made the right decision with the scale's, they fit the blade nicely.
